Ataman M. Pewnew and the Council

Located in Central New Jersey in the United States, The Association is dedicated to the preservation and education of our heritage for future Cossack generations. The Association houses a complete library and museum with a collection of banners, flags, maps and other items of historical significance and antiquity of the original Kuban Cossack Voisko (Army) with the specific goal of the preservation of the Regalia and for finding the methods for their better care for their ultimate return to the Motherland.

Periodically, throughout the year, The Association holds and sponsors various events; including fund raisers, dinners with Russian music and dancing, picnics, celebrations and remembrance for significant days important to our heritage. Many Cossacks of The Voisko, and those who have rediscovered their heritage, had and have family members who were and still are active participants of the organization.

Although the original Voisko is now located in the United States, it is still headquarters for all Kuban stanitzas throughout the United States, Canada and Australia; including such cities as Cleveland, San Francisco and Montreal. We are also associated with other Kuban Cossack stanitzas in Russia & other Kuban Cossack organizations, such as the Voisko in the Kuban.

As stated, many Cossacks who contact the Voisko are interested in rediscovering their heritage, ask for assistance in finding out more information about their family's individual heritage and look forward to participating in our events. The Association, through networking and various records stored in the library, is always willing to help accomplish that goal. Recently, many Kuban Cossacks, from around the United States have contacted the Association to express their interest in becoming active participants, where we have directed them to the closest stanizias around the nation. Also, many senior members of the Voisko remember the days when the Assoociation was located in New York and are eager to pass down first hand historical information to future generations.

Participation in the Voisko, as well as financial support, is vital in accomplishing our goals! Sources of funds for the Association; for maintaining the library and museum, are obtained through fund raising events; such as the annual picnic, and individual member donations. Members of the Association are not solicited dues and all donated funds are utilized to their fullest capacity to maintain the library and museum for future generations.

As the Voisko moves into the 21st. Century and our 400th. anniversary, it is important that younger generations of Cossacks participate in keeping our heritage alive and build upon the history of our ancestors. Through events, the Association looks forward to increasing our membership base, maintaining the museum, library and hall, to continue building upon our relationships within the local communities and enhancing our social interaction and networking capabilities here in The United States and abroad.
